The main shopping area is Angouleme but for local there are supermarkets at Mansle, (5m) and Ruffec (7m).  There are several villages nearby which have football stadiums, tennis courts and there is a swimming pool at Mansle.  School buses stop outside the gate. Several baker's vans come each week and a green grocer's/butcher's van comes once a week.

Poitiers airport is an hour away, Limoge is 1 1/2 hrs away, La Rochelle is 2 hrs away and these airports are open most of the year.  There are several villages that have places of interest I.e. the River Charante, Futurescope in Poitier, La Rochefauld has a big chateau open to the public but several other villages also have smaller chateaux close by.  Cognac with all its distilleries opens to the public in the summer.  Royan, Ile D'Oleron, and Il de Re are all places of interest close to the beach within between 1 1/2 hrs and 2 hrs travelling time.
